I started training at Ahn’s TKD (Plano, TX location) in 1994 and continue to this day. Ahn’s TKD is a legitimate martial arts school, not a “black belt factory” where any individual can easily and quickly obtain a black belt (usually in some type of one-off, made-up style). In the early 1970s Grand Master Ye Mo Ahn migrated from Korea to Dallas and established Ahn’s TKD to provide the same martial arts instruction that he received in Korea. I have continued with Ahn’s TKD (Plano, TX location) since 1994 because it’s one of the few legitimate martial arts schools in the DFW area and because Master Chun Ahn is not only a talented instructor, he is an exceptional person.

For over 25 years I’ve watched Ahn’s TKD students come and go. The serious students mostly achieved their goals and the schemers / pretenders quit. Master Chun Ahn tends to become invested in his serious students, bringing them into an "extended family." Time after time I’ve witnessed Master Chun Ahn’s positive impact on his students. He has connected with and positively influenced a wide spectrum of young students ranging from those that go on to obtain advanced degrees from universities such as MIT to those with behavioral and / or mental challenges. I have seen, and continue to see, so many former students visit the school when they are in town for the holidays; there can be no doubt as to the enduring, positive impact that Master Chun Ahn has had in their lives.

Beyond any doubt, Master Chun Ahn is one of the most honest, hard-working, talented, and big-hearted instructors that you will find anywhere in the world. You cannot go wrong selecting his school for your martial arts training.

My son, Matthew, is a wonderful child who has been a source of pride and inspiration to my wife, Tamara, and I. Matthew is intelligent, hard working, and has a wonderful heart. He also has learning disabilities, and has never found school work easy, particularly when it comes to reading and expressive language. Although he has always worked hard and had excellent teachers and schools who have helping him with his disabilities, he has also had times in which he has struggled, and I think it has made it difficult for him to feel confident and self-assured. A few years ago Matthew did a summer program at Shelton School, a wonderful place for students with disabilities. While doing a summer program there he became exposed to martial arts, and expressed an interest in doing more. We were delighted, because he was never gifted as an athlete, and we thought it might build self-confidence. At the time we really had no idea how to best proceed, so we looked at a variety of places throughout North Dallas. Then we found Master Ahn! What a wonderful discovery, and what a wonderful decision to proceed with his tutelage. Matthew began Tae-Kwon-Do with Master Ahn and although it was difficult for him at first, he persisted and worked hard. Although Matthew deserves some of the credit for his hard work and perseverance, we also give much of the credit to Master Ahn. He has provided a nurturing environment that has helped Matthew immeasurably with confidence, respect, and work ethic. Master Ahn has always been both respectful of Matthew's needs and at the same time has never been condescending or expected less of him. Matthew has developed improved motor skills, has become more confident in his physical movements and expressions, and has applied much of what he has learned from Master Ahn in a variety of areas in his life, including school work. Last year Matthew received his black belt in Tae-Kwon-Do, a wonderful achievement and milestone which gave all of us great joy and pride. We give our thanks and respect to Master Ahn in helping him with this achievement, and believe it will serve him as a means to achieve other goals and conquer other challenges throughout his life.

Our son has attended Ahn's Tae Kwon Do since the Fall of 2012 and our daughter began in the summer of 2014. My husband and I have been very impressed with the skills and attitudes our kids have learned at Ahn's. We had our kids at another martial arts studio, when that studio began changing the number of belts required to get a black belt. We dropped that studio and the same day found Ahn's Tae Kwon Do Institute in Plano. Both of our kids received their black belts here and then my son continued to get his 2nd degree black belt. I don't write a lot of reviews but I've been going to the adult class at Ahn's Tae Kwon Do for just over 2 years and I love it. It's a great workout and is a great stress reliever after a hard day at work. One thing I like about the adult class is that it's more of a size and skill level designation, than an age requirement. The ages in the class run from 13 to 60+. The skill levels run from no belt to multiple degree black belt. I find it challenging to train with the younger students and motivating to know that I can do Tae Kwon Do as a lifetime sport. I have to mention that the kids are all amazing. Master Ahn doesn't just teach Tae Kwon Do, he teaches manners, discipline, hard work, and confidence. These are the smartest, most polite, awesome young people I've ever met. Kudos to their parents and Master Ahn! Ahn's Tae Kwon Do is awesome! Seriously, you should check it out.

I trained and attended Ahn's Tae Kwon Do for 17 years. I have zero doubt that Master Ahn is the best taedwondo instructor in the area. Master Ahn is first and foremost my taekwondo instructor, but over the years, he's become a second father to me. I began his classes when I was 7 simply to learn martial arts, and - for my parents - to improve my health (I was sickly). As I am now, I can say that I've come away with much more than I had hoped for. Master Ahn's teaching style is not like other schools you'll find. Master Ahn is tough on his students, and by that I mean is he has expectation for each and every one of them. Many times, I would be pushed to my limits only to find myself surprised. I would be surprised by doing things I never knew or thought I would be able to do. Master Ahn not only built me into a martial artist and athlete, but he also helped me build my own confidence that I still carry proudly today. The things that I've gained from Ahn's Tae Kwon Do are more than my words can express, but I will say that everything that I've gained has shaped me into the person I am and has helped me get as far as I've gotten today. Years later, I still keep in touch with Master Ahn.

Aside from the exceptional workout, Ahn's also provides a great environment to learn self defense, build confidence, and develop leadership skills. My kids have improved focus and better grades. I want to take a moment to recognize the Ahn brothers' Tae Kwon Do schools in Dallas and Plano. These classes have changed the life of my son forever. My son was afraid of his own shadow when he started attending Ahn's Tae Kwon Do at age 4. My son is now 8 and just got his red belt. Kaleb is now outgoing, very communicative, confident and mentally strong from taking these Tae Kwon Do classes. He was the MVP of his baseball team this last spring and gets fantastic grades at school. I contribute all this to the confidence he has obtained from Tae Kwon Do. I am most impressed with the fact that Master Ahn will only advance a student if they earn it. Nothing is given at this dojo, unlike other dojo's that seem only interested in making money and processing students through like cattle. I highly recommend any child at any age, male or female, to take these courses for their mental and physical growth which will permeate every aspect of their lives going forward.

I have been a student of Master Ahn’s for 10 years and have a third degree black belt. Master Ahn is by far the best instructor in the area. I’ve visited some of my friend’s studios and can clearly see that Master Ahn instills confidence and discipline in his students not only for the period of a class but also in his student’s lives. Everything is earned by the student, not given. Without Taekwondo I would not be the person that I am today. I’ve learned leadership skills that I apply to my daily life, confidence in my own skills as well as in others, and discipline that I apply to any and every situation. Although I currently attend college in Austin, I still maintain contact with Master Ahn on a regular basis. I know that I can trust him for help with Taekwondo and life. Although what we practice in the studio is all on a hypothetical basis and to prepare us for any situation, I have had to use these skills in the real world (nothing too scary). And I can say that without a doubt, the skills that Master Ahn teaches his students are effective and he has our best interests at heart. I encourage anyone to try Taekwondo. It is well worth the investment of your time.
